Polyurethane spray foam is formed by mixing and reacting chemicals to create an expanding foam. It can be sprayed into building cavities and it will expand and mold to its surroundings. In the insulation industry polyurethane spray foam is most commonly used for insulation, air sealing and to create a moisture barrier. Polyurethane spray foam is known to resist heat transfer extremely well and is one of the best solutions for preventing unwanted air infiltration through openings or cracks. With this spray foam there are different types that work best in specific locations. High density polyurethane spray foam is mostly used in exterior or roofing installations. Where as medium polyurethane spray foam is often used for continuous applications, and can be used just like low density spray foam that is usually for interior cavity fills or attics. We would also like to stress the importance of correctly using and installing this foam to maximize its efficiency.
